Read a good poem lately?

Well, April is “National Poetry Month”

“National Poetry Month is a month-long, national celebration of poetry established by the Academy of American Poets. The concept is to widen the attention of individuals and the media—to the art of poetry, to living poets, to our complex poetic heritage, and to poetry books and journals of wide aesthetic range and concern. We hope to increase the visibility and availability of poetry in popular culture while acknowledging and celebrating poetry’s ability to sustain itself in the many places where it is practiced and appreciated.”—from Poetry.org

To join the celebration of National Poetry Month on the SUNY Sullivan campus, the Hermann Memorial Library has selected recent titles from its circulating book collection for your reading pleasure and put them on display near the main entrance to the library..  These poetry books are but a small subset of our holdings in this area of literature, which include major poetry and poetry traditions from around the world, and from all periods of history.  We have included some exciting examples of works by contemporary, urban poets side by side with the old classics. We hope you will enjoy reading your favorites as well as making new discoveries.
