Marcus Garvey

February is Black History Month, and the library has for the occasion assembled a selection of current as well as earlier books from our circulating collection that celebrates, interprets, documents, and narrates the achievements and influence of Blacks in history, from the present going all the way back to the earliest historical records.  How our culture has been enriched by Black writers, artists, musicians, as well as sports heroes, film and entertainment greats, professionals of all academic disciplines, including scientists and social scientists, political and religious leaders, as well as the unsung heroes of domestic and family life.  Our lives have been immeasurably enriched by their lives, and continue to be so.

Students: Thinking of writing a research paper on the theme of Blacks in history?  Please ask to see our bibliography of circulating books on this topic.  A librarian will gladly help you get started on your research, from selecting a topic, narrowing it, finding academic sources of information, and helping you to write your works cited page to get all of those bibliographic citations right.
