Happy Constitution Day!

You cannot have failed to notice the splendid exhibition about our Constitution in the de Hoyos lobby outside the library and theatre today.  The exhibition is packed with information, prizes and surprises for everybody…  The library is joining in the celebration of this great day in history, Sept. 17, 1787, the day of the signing of the Constitution, with a hand-out bibliography of titles in the library’s collection about the Constitution and Constitutional Law.  This lists some of the best new books that we have on this subject, and all of them can be circulated. The bibliography is available on the exhibition tables, and also in the library.  An electronic version can be downloaded here.

New integrated search engine available

Engines that search across many specialized and general databases of electronic content provide the student with convenient and thorough one-stop shopping for articles, ebooks, images, websites and more.  EBSCOhost’s new Integrated Search makes it possible for you to retrieve relevant sources from all of our subscribed EBSCOhost databases as well as from many more databases from other vendors, such as Gale/Cengage Learning, with one click.  Check out this fantastic new search tool linked from our library’s website. Especially good are the possibilities for inter-disciplinary topics, say, for example, when you want to search for the concept “basketball” accross the disciplines of art, literature, business, psychology, popular culture, physics, medicine, and so on, and open the results to all kinds of sources from journals, popular magazines, books and reference books to music files, videos, and other formats.

Welcome new and returning students!

The library staff welcomes new and old friends for another semester.  We hope you had an enjoyable summer and are now eager to begin your studies.  The library is the central building on the campus and also the most important place to get help with your research or other academic projects.

Our library staff is ready to provide you with caring professional service seven days a week. In person, by email, by Meebo chat, and by telephone, you are able to connect to our staff to answer your questions.

For instance: “How do I get a computer account?” “How do I log on to ANGEL?” “Where are your books, and how many can I check out at one time?” “Do you have a copy of my textbook on reserve?”  These are some of the most common questions students have in the first days of the semester.  Let us help.
